The Home-School Learning Compact: A Promise

A major purpose of Title I is to increase the involvement of parents in a child's education. Under Title I regulations, all schools receiving Title I funds have developed a compact, an agreement between the school, the parents and students. The compact is designed to help parents, students and teachers work together to provide the best possible education for each student.

School Responsibilities

The school and Title I program will strive to:

  • Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive learning environment that promotes student growth and achievement of Massachusetts State Standards.
  • Foster a welcoming, inclusive school environment where all students and families are treated with care and respect.
  • Provide rich, authentic learning opportunities that foster the essential skills and dispositions of our district’s Portrait of a Learner.
  • Hold parent/guardian-teacher conferences at the end of the first and second trimesters to discuss student progress, celebrate successes, and identify areas for continued growth. Conferences will be held on: • December 10 & 11 • March 18 & 19
  • Provide families with regular updates about their child’s academic progress. Students and parents/guardians will receive five formal progress reports throughout the school year, issued at the middle and end of each trimester.
  • Provide families with reasonable access to teachers and school staff. Staff members will be available through email, phone, or scheduled meetings to discuss student progress, questions, or concerns.
Parent/Guardian Responsibilities

We, as parents/guardians, will strive to:

  • Support regular attendance by making sure my child attends school each day when healthy.
  • Attend Open House and parent/guardian-teacher conferences.
  • Participate in school events and volunteer when possible.
  • Monitor assignments and support homework completion.
  • Review school communications and respond when needed.
Student Responsibilities

We, as students, will strive to:

  • Come to school every day, on time, and ready to learn.
  • Complete my assignments and homework to the best of my ability and ask for help when needed.
  • Follow the SES Be’s:
    • Be Safe.
    • Be Responsible.
    • Be Respectful.
    • Be Kind.
  • Model the attributes and characteristics of our district’s Portrait of a Learner.
